About Mikazo Tech Blog

My name is Mike, and this blog is my way of saving people time. If someone has a specific problem that I've encountered before, hopefully these posts will save them the extraneous Googling I had to go through to solve the same problem. Also, when I have something to say about technology today, I will post my thoughts here. If this blog has helped you out, even a little bit, vote on the poll below, or let me know by sending me an email. I'm always open to exchanging links with other blogs or websites that share a similar interest.

Simple Image Editing

I've been trying to find a simple image editing program that runs on Ubuntu just to make simple pixel images. GIMP seems a little too complicated for that sort of thing so I've come across a few alternatives.

The first program I tried was mtpaint. It did what I wanted, except I couldn't seem to find a "Move" tool for selecting and moving a portion of an image. Next, I tried gpaint. This seemed ok too except I couldn't seem to find a zoom function, nor an undo function, which are usually necessary when editing images at the per-pixel level.

I am continuing to search and will update this post once I find something suitable.

[Edit]: Ok so I did some more searching but didn't really find anything promising, so I went back to GIMP. Turns out it wasn't as hard to use as I thought. I've had Photoshop experience in the past, so I caught on. The multiple windows thing is what threw me off, I think.
